Stephen Ministries at PVEC

What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry (based on the apostle Stephen – see Acts 6 and 7)
is a comprehensive training program to organize laypeople to become “Stephen Ministers”, capable of providing one-to-one Christian care to hurting people experiencing grief, divorce,  job loss, hospitalization, and other life difficulties, in and around our congregation.

Needs for Care That Stephen Ministers Can Meet:

  1. Those grieving the loss of a loved one
  2. People who are currently or recently have been hospitalized
  3. People being treated for cancer
  4. Individuals who are terminally ill
  5. People who are experiencing divorce (before, during and after)
  6. People recovering at home or in a rehab facility after an illness or injury
  7. Those who are homebound or reside in an assisted living facility or nursing home
  8. People with a chronic illness or a long-term disability
  9. Parents and families with children who have disabilities
  10. People who have lost their jobs or experienced a significant financial setback

As our congregation experiences our Stephen Ministry care, more needs are met, more lives are changed, and the church grows stronger in love.
